Fall 2014
Fall 2014 was my first semester at CSUMB. I entered as a junior after graduating from Gavilan Community College with my general education completed and an AA in Liberal Arts. I was so nervous and scared, but I saw familiar faces and they introduced me to some great people. I felt like I quickly settled into life at CSUMB. The friends that I had made so fast, were a great support and always willing to help.
Coming from a small town and transferring from a small community college, never really allowed me to met people from other countries. CSUMB was the first place where I had actually met people my age from Japan. It was an experience that I am so happy to have, since I was always interested in Japan and it's culture from a young age. I came to know many of Japanese exchange students and become really close friends with them. It's wonderful to sit with them, talking about Japan and America and helping each other learning each others language and culture, but more importantly building friendships that are based on common interests is wonderful.
Fall semester, while it did have it's many ups, it also had a couple of downs. Mainly from the stress of deadlines and papers, but I was able to pull through them and pass all my classes flawlessly. I had spent several nights with my fellow classmates and friends working together to finish what ever needed to be done.
What I had experienced, whether event or person, I would not change for the world. I had learn so much and my mind opened in such a way that will stay with me for my entire life. I was sad to see this semester end, it meant those experiences where in the past now and also the friends that I had made from Japan were leaving in only a few short months. I will forever cherish what I gained from my first semester at CSUMB.
