Course Reflective Narrative:
This course catered to both Japanese majors and Spanish majors. It had teachers from both departments teaching on certain dates. The purpose of this class was get students prepared for their upcoming semesters at CSUMB. We went over how to build this website and what was needed to work on it and what needed to be completed before our graduation. More importantly we went over the MLOs and discussed them in details.
As a class, we also did many exercise and activities to get us thinking more as an international person and people learning another languages. Activities like getting into a group and creating a list of what jobs we can have as language majors. It was interesting seeing what people came up with as a career. There were guest speakers come in a talk to us about more potential careers and what we needed to do get to that specific job. Lastly, there was field trip to Middlebury Institution of International Studies, a graduate school, and we learn what they offered and were it could take us.
This class went over many different topics, but all of them related to our graduation, our major and our life after CSUMB. It was very beneficial in ordered to get prepared now for our future. This class helped me expand my path and consider other options. I know where I want to end up at, but now I know that there are several ways to get there, each providing its own experiences along the way and this class helped me in learning those options.
